Visit Parliament House

Victorian Parliament House is one of Melbourne’s best known landmarks. The Parliament of Victoria first met on 21 November 1856. The Federal Parliament occupied Victorian Parliament House from 1901 until 1927, with the Parliament of Victoria residing in the Exhibition Buildings.

Parliament House is open to the public throughout the year. On non-sitting week days, the building is open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (but is closed on public holidays). On sitting days, the building opens at 8:30 am and remains open whilst Parliament is sitting. The building is not open on weekends (except for special events).
