Joint Statement – Delivering for the Hampton Life Savings Club community to recover and rebuild

A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver $125,000 to support the redevelopment of Hampton Life Saving Club (HLSC).

The funding will allow for urgent repair works to the existing clubrooms and to undertake master planning for a new facility which will include disability access appropriate for supporting the continued delivery of Starfish Nippers.

The Liberals and Nationals have previously committed to the redevelopment of Torquay Surf Life Saving Club (TSLSC) which will deliver a new facility with greater capacity for Nippers.

Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy said that life saving clubs are an integral part of coastal communities as they provide young Victorians with the skills to be safe in the water.

“I’m committed to supporting the Starfish Nippers and working with Life Saving Victoria to identify opportunities to expand the program across Victoria,”

“This investment will help ensure no family is denied access to such vital programs.”

 Member for Brighton, James Newbury highlighted the importance of HLSC having the best facilities to support the community.

“Hampton Life Saving Club plays a vital role in keeping beachgoers safe, especially in the summer months,”

“The Club has shown that it is state leading in their recognition of women, the environment, and all abilities children and the Liberal Party will support that leadership,”

“Only the Liberals and Nationals will deliver the much needed facilities for our young life saving volunteers and support those who protect us.”
